Here are the Canon EOS SLR cameras that I own. I bought the first one (EOS 650) in December 1987 (picture by Daniel as all my cameras are in the shot!)

Nice collection :^)

it is amazing the difference in use between the film and digital ones – the 1V has shot 92 rolls of film, so 3,312 photos in 9 years and the 5D has taken 28,000 images in 3 years.

John Linwood on October 29th, 2010, 7:53 am

omg that is 175 pictures a week

The time interval between cameras is telling as well. 13 years, then 6 years, then 3 years. Continue the trend and you’ll be buying the next one in just 18 months. Best start saving :^)

I like your thinking here Ray

Have you tried taking the same shot with each model to see if the shot comes out better (or the Canon marketing team is just really good at their jobs!)?

Felipe Salum on October 29th, 2010, 10:33 am

wow, that is a nice collection!! congratulations :)

John Linwood on October 29th, 2010, 10:44 am

Alana – I have with the 5D and the 1V

Thanks Felipe, although the only credit I can take is for buying them, which didn’t take a lot of skill

CeruleanRose on October 29th, 2010, 11:34 am

I am a very proud owner of a 5D mkII :) Still struggling to make movies. Congrats on the new job!

John Linwood on October 29th, 2010, 12:07 pm

thanks CR

Thanks Lalis, are you back doing triathalons yet?

Mr Din on October 29th, 2010, 12:48 pm

nice collection!!
really like the 5D mk2… are you happy with it? wonder if I should change my 40D… or keep it :D

Seen on your photo stream. (?)

John Linwood on October 29th, 2010, 1:37 pm

Yes I love the 5d mk2 (I have only had it a week). I guess it depends what you want to photograph, you have managed to get some spectacular pictures with your 40D. The 5D mk 2 obviously gives you much higher resolution and better low light performance but those may not be limitations you encounter often.

I signed up for 1/2 ironman but haven’t start to train yet. I just want to finish and if possible not crawling :D

Mr Din on October 29th, 2010, 2:19 pm

you’re right… even though I often face such limitations (not posting much family and kid pictures on my stream, although I’m taking a lot of them). I might eventually go for a second semi-pro body, to avoid changing lenses too often… what a life!!! :D – thank you!

An impressive line up! However,my,alternative camera, a tiny "handbag sized" Canon PowerShot A550 which comes with me everywhere cowers down, and goes and hides for now in a corner;but it’s still snarling! !

Grrrrrrrr "Thinks it will take on the big shots of the Canon World" : )

John Linwood on October 29th, 2010, 3:16 pm

Lalis – Iron "Woman" surely :)

Jo – LOL
