Canon 7D – DSLR 126 LED Video Photo Light
The 126 LED Video/Photo light is available on Ebay for around US. I purchased from Ebay seller “yespainting”. It took approx. 2 weeks to have the Light delivered to the US East Coast. Light puts out 650 lumens according to the manufacturer. I use the light with my Canon 7D for video and photos and it works great. Also, since the light uses LED’s, it does not get hot. Highly recommended! I used a Zoom H4 recorder with an Audio Technica Lav mic for the audio in this video, then sync’d using Sony Vegas Pro 9. This light is a knockoff of the Lite Panels Micro.

@Raphiael2006 Hi, thanks for the comment. The LED light is still working GREAT! I actually use it at night sometimes as a reading light as well. It has so many uses!
hey nice video! i´m german”!
i want to know if it works also now. cause the video is from 2009.
thx a lot for answering
@XavNetProductions I get approx. 2 hours of continuous use with the NP-F550 generic batteries. You may get even more with lithium AA’s, but they are costly…
how long does the batteries that you used last on the light?
@dragongundam88 Great idea, but to my knowledge there is no way to do this. Maybe they’ll include an AC Adapter in an upcoming version
hello, do you know if there is a special type of battery pack adapter that will allow the light to be plugged into an outlet instead of running off the sony 550 batteries? just thinking about long filming situations:P
@dereckwillis Let me re-state the above….I meant the “cold shoe” should be the same, meaning the size of the shoe is standard. You DON’T want to put a Nikon “hot shoe” flash on a Canon camera and vice versa. This light uses the shoe ONLY for mounting, and does not transfer any electrics through the shoe. Sorry for the incorrect or confusing statement!
@shrimpinpat You are correct, I misstated before. I was referring to the “cold shoe” meaning the size is the same.
@dereckwillis but a nikon flash will *NOT* work on a canon hotshoe because the connector points on the bottom that send information back in forth will not match up..
and you can get a nicer one of these for 99 bucks
THANKS MAN! thank you! I will buy this in a heat beat to put on my new sony nex-v10~
@dereckwillis very useful for me as english is not my native language
thanks
@ColerainRVtrailer Yes, the “hot shoe” should be the same on Canon’s, Nikon’s and others. The only ones you’ll have issues with are the “special hot shoes” such as those on Canon or Sony Camcorders. These active hot shoes are unique and most cameras with a shoe on the top have a standard size and since this item does not transfer any electronics (aka cold shoe), the electronics don’t matter.
Quick question: Is canon’s hot shoe mount the same size as Nikon’s? AKA would this light mount on top of any standard Nikon DSLR?
lol thumbs up if you want to buy it just to offend people with the high brightness!!
@dereckwillis thanks for your help
@CreativeOutletHobbie The model number for the light is CN-126 and may be marketed in several different versions. Thanks for the comment. Also, just to note, the price is below $50US now
is there any differences in versions? Meaning do I have to by the canon version for a dslr or not? ebay seems to have some different ones. thanks for the video
I just added Closed Captioning to this video and hope it is useful for those who need it….
Great light , I have 3 of them , 2 of the 126 led and one 160 led light. Using it for travellog small budget production on the canon 7 D
@letitv I’ve never used AA batteries in my unit, but will test with rechargeable AA’s and post the results. It is going to depend on the intensity setting. On the lowest setting, I’d expect more than 2 hours. Alternatively, at the brightest setting, I’d not expect more than an hour. I’ll test and post the results. Thanks for the comment.
How many hours does it run if I were to use regular batteries?
Great product review btw..
@95bradders95 Absolutely! As long as the Opteka grip you are referring to has a standard shoe mount it will fit. I use my light with the HD Video mode on my Canon 7D all the time with great results. I would like to use it with my Sony HDSR1 camcorder, but Sony thinks I need a special shoe for their expensive accessories!
I feel like a salesman for this light, maybe I should get a kickback? J/K, I prefer honest, non-influenced reviews. 10,000 views, here we come….now, let’s go for 1 million!
@isherwood8206 I actually think the “whine” has gone away. The only time I ever noticed it before is when it was on the hot shoe of my 7D and I was using the AGC enabled onboard mic. I seriously doubt the whine still exists. There have been other tests from more recent purchases of these lights and no issues with whine.
so this would be good to use whilst filming with a hd camcorder, and im not sure if you know, but could you find out if it would fit the opteka camera handle grip
Good review! Is the LED lamp still making the audio ‘whine’? Have you tested this with a shotgun mic to see if it can be avoided or if it still makes this noise?
