SLR’s and DSLR’s are very similar, except one is digital. SLR cameras are film. DSLR’s are digital. The D is short for digital.

Yup, ALT said it.. A SLR is a film camera while a D-SLR is a digital SLR and needs no film. Heck, it doesn’t have a back to even open other than a lil door for the memory card.
