If they fit on your EOS film camera they will fit on your digital camera. However the EF-s lenses that come with many digital cameras will not fit on a film camera.

EF lens is good for both, EF-s is digital only.

You’re good to go.

Yes, they will. All Canon EF lenses can be used on both film and digital cameras.

The EFs lenses like the kit lenses that come with the digital Rebels will only work on cameras with APS-C sized sensors. They will not work on the full frame digitals or film cameras.

You will notice a difference in the field of view with a digital though. There is a crop factor or 1.6x on the digitals. This means that a 100mm will perform as a 160mm lens would on a film camera. This is good for telephoto lenses as it will effectively give you more reach. On the wide angle end though you lose. This is why the kit lens on the digital cameras is an 18-55mm instead of the 28-80 which was common on the film cameras.

On your lens, inside the filter ring around the front element, where all the important info about the lens is located, it says EF, right?

Any lens that says that will work on any film or digital EOS camera.

The older mount for Canon I believe was called the FD mount. If you come across a lens that says FD, it will not work on your Rebel 2000 and it won’t work on a digital SLR. It only works on older FD mount manual SLRs. I just want to save you wasting your money buying a lens that you can’t use ;)
