Question by mr.wiggles: how does the d-lightning image processing used in nikon digital cameras works?
I just want to know if it uses a single picture shot and enhance it by software, or uses different shots with differnet exposition parameters, and then merge them in a single picture.

You apply d-lighting after the shot, so the effect is entirely software-based.
