Question by jaymieklutz123: How long do Canon SLR cameras last?
Only people who own Canons should answer this question as for obvious reasons.

Let me know how long you’ve had your camera and how it has been working for you.

Properly cared for, they’ll last a hundred years. Unfortunately, it may soon be impossible to get film for them. Exquisite instruments, they are – but sadly, they’re obsolete.

More expensive models of Canon SLR cameras have metal moving parts as opposed to cheaper models that use plastic parts. The more expensive the better.

The same is true of lenses – the more expensive the better the quality of the glass.

How long? Probably a few hundred thousand shutter actuations (photos).

If you get a middle to high end model, they last for a long time. I own a Canon A2 (film), and it was released in 1992. Now, it hasn’t seen an especially high amount of use or wear, but it still works perfectly. Canon doesn’t manufacture film cameras anymore, and I’m looking at a DSLR myself, so I can’t speak for digital, but Canon is a well-known maker, and has a reputation to live up to, too.
