my Nikon F2a system
Nikon SLR

Quite reliable and solid setup, from wide to mid-tele, with TC-201, this system covers from 20mm to 420mm on 35mm body.

BUT, the more I use RF system, the heavier I feel they are and the less I use them. Should I clear them for a Leica M4/M2 and a 50mm lens? or should I keep them for Leon and Enyi?

I have thought about to sell all of my manual SLR system out lots of time. However, I never make up mind.

Seen in my contacts’ photos. (?)

Klaire_Lee on September 22nd, 2010, 2:39 am

OK,
I think that I should join the Nikon family, right?

Great set you’ve there! I wouldn’t sell the 20mm lens at any price!

Pig Sty Avenue on September 22nd, 2010, 3:21 am

Since I got into rangefinders, when I see photographers out and about with SLRs and DSLRs it looks weird: big clunky things.

I would recommend you sell them. Get a good Leica collection to pass onto the bairns.

timojazz on September 22nd, 2010, 3:29 am

@Klaire, are you really? let me know, happy to pass them to you with right price if you want. (minus the 20mm THOXT booked) None of them is white though XD

@PSA, yes, in short term, RF is easier/lighter to carry and in long term, Leica should be a better heritage than Nikon. I think I will sell them. BUT, this system, as I reckon, can only change into a Leica M4 body itself. This fact always makes me hesitate.

Pig Sty Avenue on September 22nd, 2010, 4:13 am

It’s a big step… But if you get the M body, you can get an adapter and use any Leica thread mount lens until you can afford an M lens. And there are lots of LTM lenses which are really cheap and good enough – like the Industar61.

Little by little…

timojazz on September 22nd, 2010, 4:24 am

yes, I know that.

I have two M39 lens (35/1.7 and 75/2.5, work well with my Bessa R) now and both of them came with a M adapter which means I can use them right away if I get a M body.

only if I can make my mind. ( the feeling is getting stronger and stronger everyday….)

I’ve been going through the same thing, Timo! Only, I’ve compromised and got a Leica iiif. Maybe next year I’ll get an M. Just now, I’m enjoying using the iiif.

Klaire_Lee on September 22nd, 2010, 5:25 am

Big big thanks to Timo!!!!!!!!! ??

timojazz on September 22nd, 2010, 5:41 am

enjoy your F2a, good machine really!

rafalweb on September 22nd, 2010, 6:31 am

Salivating here…..

Pig Sty Avenue on September 22nd, 2010, 7:03 am

How’s it going, Timo? Got your M yet?

timojazz on September 22nd, 2010, 7:54 am

: not yet, sold some of them to a friend in Taiwan, and the others are waiting to be put onto ebay. will keep you informed, mate. (I will surely show off if I got a M, haha)

timojazz on September 22nd, 2010, 8:51 am

Have sold camera body, 20mm and 28mm to freinds, Just put the 50mm, 135mm and TC-201 onto ebay.

but after simple survey, consider about cost and fun, I think I might end up to buy extra lenses, i.e 21mm f/4, 15mm f/4.5, for Bessa R instead of a Leica M body.

anyway, turn from SLR to rangefinder for sure.

Pig Sty Avenue on September 22nd, 2010, 9:23 am

Maybe that’s the right way – it’s the lenses that count.

Having said that, since I got my IIIf, I do think that there’s something inexplicably satisfying about a Leica body.
