@unsung777 I want interchangeable!!! I hope the info on their website is accurate that they will make a interchangeable version.

unsung777 on August 21st, 2010, 3:49 am

Looks pretty sweet, but yea they are already late. The only problem i see is the fixed 8x lens. Depth of field will probably be an issue.

33Rosanna on August 21st, 2010, 4:39 am

I hope this cam works out!

cannoir on August 21st, 2010, 4:42 am

@VincentGrippi I think so. I think that mini cam has a potential its the marketing strategy of red that is a little whack.

VincentGrippi on August 21st, 2010, 5:04 am

5 grand is still cheap for this camera.

LeoInterHyenaem on August 21st, 2010, 5:37 am

I hope, Mr. Jannard is less into deceiving his customers than Mr. Jobs is.
A month ago or thereabouts he informed us that he’d been testing the light sensitivity properties of the Epic and the Scarlet, and his findings were certain to impress us!
However, I wonder if the Scarlet’s 2/3″ sensor’s p/p resolution and dynamic range would match or exceed those of, say, Canon’s EOS Mark IV, and if the noise levels under rather tricky lighting would be comparably low. I hope so, but doubt it

yearly next year my ass.

renthal971 on August 21st, 2010, 6:56 am

I am foaming at the mouth!!!!!!

kingofskateop on August 21st, 2010, 7:05 am

what are the costs of it’s lenses?

temsi on August 21st, 2010, 8:01 am

Yes. Plenty of workflows for macbooks.

houseoffirefilms on August 21st, 2010, 8:07 am

I’d say Mac. I believe After Effects supports the RED workflow, but then you have to send it to Premiere to edit, and back to After Effects to export it properly (anyone correct me if I’m wrong here) I haven’t worked with Avid enough to say how well it works.

I generally prefer Final Cut for any editing, I’m sure it’s no exception here.

TheSilverWind on August 21st, 2010, 8:17 am

Macs are better post for ANY camera!

artfesto on August 21st, 2010, 8:45 am

Can I edit red scarlet footage with a new intel macbook? I have 4 gigs of ram.

GFTVEDS on August 21st, 2010, 9:38 am

*drool*

MultiSnapDragon on August 21st, 2010, 9:58 am

Final Cut for Mac does, by far the best editing software.

DiabloPlayer4life on August 21st, 2010, 10:00 am

perhaps you’re right. We’ll see :) But yeah, it could be a big disappointment.

norsknerd on August 21st, 2010, 10:56 am

is post production better wtih mac then windows for the red cameras?

Bluestarcinema on August 21st, 2010, 11:07 am

Cheaper Better cameras??? ROFL…

find me ANY company, who’s releasing a camera that shoots 1-120 frames per second in 3K resolution…. I’ll PAY you to find me a camera that can do that. for under $5000.

MultiSnapDragon on August 21st, 2010, 11:34 am

all hype, the Red camera is great. But the truth is you won’t get the Red look unless you have more than $20,000 to spend. By the time they release this thing there will be better cheaper cameras. Save your breath.

mikeDJLP on August 21st, 2010, 12:10 pm

Okay, in no way am I disagreeing with you, but in this day and age, what RED is doing is absolutely revolutionary and things will happen to push back price point and release time. Now if you ask me, I would much rather them take the time to make it right rather then try to deliver on promises and make things half way to get it out in time.

UhhICanExplain on August 21st, 2010, 12:17 pm

I read on another video that someone who owns a RED One said that RED told them that the real release date is 2010, I will come back and post when (Like Early, Mid, Etc.) after he replies.

Elvarks on August 21st, 2010, 12:57 pm

Starting savin’ my pennies today

LaRobertos on August 21st, 2010, 1:08 pm

I hope your wrong but prob right

jeffbrent on August 21st, 2010, 1:35 pm

This Camera is an Urban Legend. I really feel sorry for the poor sap that saved his money for this and missed out on other deals of existing cameras. By the time the Scarlet is released 1080 will be the equivalent of Betamax.

Megamixer888 on August 21st, 2010, 1:49 pm

Trust 3k? Are you fucking stupid? RED has proven itself already. This is revolutionary. This will slaughter DVCPROHD.
