@Rehdman6444 Ah, OK, I understand now. Yes, you’re right, in hindsight I should have shown people that the prongs pop out. I just thought it was obvious. :-)

@ThoughtsMedia Thanks for your prompt reply. I apologize for the confusion regarding the charging unit. but, it may have been more helpful to the average novice to have you, visually, demonstrate the pop out charger unit prongs in your video.and, more carefully, explain your concerns. Other than that, I found your critique to be very helpful and informative. I just purchased this camera and was, initially, confused about that charger unit. I figured it out but, Granny may not.

@Rehdman6444 Your comment confuses me – did I give you the impression in the video that I wasn’t aware that the prongs come out and you plug it into the wall? I am. My complaint is that the battery must charge inside the camera; I prefer external battery chargers.

The unit you describe in your video for the Nikon Coolpix S8100 as a “wall charger” has the appropriate connectors on the backside which the user must, physically, move to the 90-degree angle. Please, don’t ask me to explain the engineering(maybe packaging) but, it works well on any wall socket in my home.

@rockchick87 No idea, sorry. You might need to contact Polaroid for that. I’ve never used one of those printers before.

Can you tell my how I can get my polaroid pogo to hook to my camera the S8100. It is not hooking to the pickbridge? Does thi camera have this function?? If so how can get it to work. Any help would be great.

@snazzyricecooker The S9100 just started shipping this week I think, so no, I haven’t seen it yet. It’s coming out only six months after the S8100, so I’m actually a little bit irritated at Nikon for that. :-)

@ThoughtsMedia awesome review, thanks. Have you checked out the new nikon s9100? the specs look awesome, but its getting some confusing reviews.

@p0pTARTSandONiONs I don’t think it comes with any – but that’s OK, Windows Live Movie Maker is a very competent video editor for the basic stuff.

p0pTARTSandONiONs on April 21st, 2011, 4:57 am

@88elbarto88 I’m familiar with that camera, but I’ve never used it so I have no opinion about it.

@TheSoftailboy1 This is an unboxing and first impressions video. It represents my first experience using the product, so yes, sometimes I don’t immediately figure out how to use it. I’ve never owned a Coolpix camera before, so there was some on-the-spot learning. If you don’t like that, don’t watch it: simple, isn’t it?
- Jason

TheSoftailboy1 on April 21st, 2011, 6:21 am

Maybe you should know how to use the features before you try to demonstrate them. i didn’t really learn how to do anything by watching this.

elijaennell on April 21st, 2011, 6:33 am

I love the longness of the video. I’ve een looking fro a video as long as this. I hate the short vids.

hahahahaha “don’t be camera sticker guy” xD

ThoughtsMedia on April 21st, 2011, 7:26 am

@liz18c You have to push the flash down when you’re done with the camera – your camera is normal.

ThoughtsMedia on April 21st, 2011, 8:06 am

@Metalfreak20 My shooting table is at a slight angle, and the plastic is slippery. No ghosts. :-)
- Jason

Metalfreak20 on April 21st, 2011, 8:35 am

wtf do you have any ghosts in your house ? or why is the cam moving at 9:17 ? :O

liz18c on April 21st, 2011, 8:40 am

Thanks for the video. I learned a bit about the functions and abilities of the camera. :) I do have a question. I just bought this camera and I’m wondering if the flash is supposed to close automatically? Mine doesn’t and I’m concerned that it may be broken because I have to push it down after I turn it off.

@umair9926

Check my video entitled “My camera sucks.” It is a Nikon S8100 zoom test.

ThoughtsMedia on April 21st, 2011, 10:11 am

@umair9926 I honestly haven’t noticed any problems with the video or “the focus problem”, so I’m not sure what these other people are talking about.
- Jason

umair9926 on April 21st, 2011, 10:58 am

Hello, I am going to buy this camera S8100, but many people are complaining about that it has problem in video recording when we zoom i in video mode. and also the focus problem. So some people are saying that S9100 will resolve this problem. What you guys think? as you know better.
