Which lenses will fit a Canon 630 35mm SLR camera?
Question by emilysk8: Which lenses will fit a Canon 630 35mm SLR camera?
I am buying a Canon 630 35mm SLR camera body, and already have a couple of lenses for the Canon Digital Rebel XTI. Will they be interchangeable? Do I need to buy a seperate lens for the 630? I tried to figure it out on epinions but couldn’t.
Thanks!
The 2 lenses I have for the Rebel XTI are:
1. Kit Lens 18-55mm (says EFS on the lens)
2. EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM

I am not familiar with that camera, but if it’s an EOS system camera the lenses from your XTi should work. The only downside is that if you use the 18-55 lens that came with the XTi, you can sometimes get some vignetting. I would recommend buying one lens for the new camera, something like a 24-85 or 28-80 canon lens. This will give you a nice wide angle lens and no vignetting. Good luck and I hope this helps!!

Canon EF lenses will fit that body.
There is a great selection of used lenses out there since they’re been around since the 80s.
EF-S lenses used on older cheaper Digital cameras like the Digital Rebel should not be used on an older Canon film camera.
Newer and more expensive digital Canon’s have a larger Image Sensor and can use the film EF lenses.
EF lenses were first introduced in the 1970s…and they will fit ALL of Canon’s film SLR cameras as well as ALL their Digital SLRs.
The newer, EF-S lenses are designed to fit Canon’s Digital SLR cameras (excluding full frame)…and are NOT compatible with 35mm film cameras.
The Canon EOS 630 uses Canon EF autofocus lenses.
You need to check your existing lenses to see if they are Canon EF mount or EF-S mount. EF-S mount lenses will not work on the EOS 630 film camera. Without knowing your specific lenses, it’s hard to say for sure. See the link below, which will tell you which lenses are EF and which lenses are EF-S.
Also, you should be aware that Canon has an older manual focus lens mount, called the Canon FD. The FD lenses will not work on autofocus cameras, both film and digital.
All EOS lenses will fit on other EOS cameras … but, lenses designed for the “digital” cameras will not cover the whole frame when shooting with a 35mm or “full frame” digital like the 5D
